“He who observes the wind will not sow, and he who regards the clouds will not reap. As you do not know the way the spirit comes to the bones in the womb of a woman with child, so you do not know the work of God who makes everything. In the morning sow your seed, and at evening withhold not your hand, for you do not know which will prosper, this or that, or whether both alike will be good.” — Ecclesiastes 11:4-6, ESV
Business for Jesus’ followers isn’t about piling up cash—it’s Purpose Beyond Profit™, advancing the Kingdom with every step. The world’s a windy mess, but God’s Word doesn’t flinch: freeze, and you’re sunk; sow for Him, and you’re in the game.
Here’s C.H. Spurgeon from his sermon “Sowing in the Wind, Reaping Under Clouds”—135 years back in 1890, yet it lands like it was preached yesterday—reminding us our business is God’s, and we’re stewards for His glory:
“Sow when the time comes, whatever wind blows. Reap when the time comes, whatever clouds are in the sky… Go out and work! Go out and preach! Go out and instruct others! Go out to seek to win souls! Thus shall you prove, in very truth, that you are not dependent upon surroundings and circumstances… Sow in the morning, sow in the evening, sow at night, sow all day long, for you can never tell what God will bless; and by this constant sowing, you will prove to demonstration that you are not observing the winds, nor regarding the clouds.”
Advancing His Kingdom’s the real prize—keep sowing, and let Him sort the harvest.
