A while back, I started a simple idea: spend 30 minutes a day commenting on posts in my industry.
That was it. No strategy doc. No content plan. Just time blocked on the calendar and a commitment to show up.
Each day, I’d head to the platform where the people I needed to reach were already active. Sometimes Instagram. Sometimes Facebook. Sometimes YouTube. Sometimes LinkedIn. I’d look for posts from companies or individuals doing work in and around the world I was building in. I wasn’t looking for inspiration. I was looking for conversation.
And when I found something worth responding to, I did. With a real comment — not a reaction or quick emoji. I’d ask a question, offer a perspective, or just share a sentence or two that moved the conversation forward. Then I’d move on.
It wasn’t complicated. But it worked.
People noticed. Some replied. A few clicked through. It didn’t explode overnight — it just built steadily. Because every time I showed up in a comment thread, I showed up as a person. As a brand. As a consistent presence.
That rhythm became a foundation. And eventually, it became a tool we now use and teach:
It’s one of the many tools inside The Brand Moat Blueprints — a practical library of repeatable plays that help business leaders build trust and visibility in a noisy world – based on Law 4 inside UnbreakableOS™.
The 2024 Sprout Social ContentStrategy Report backs this up:
That same report highlights how Lodge Cast Iron, a legacy brand, built incredible engagement by asking simple questions in text posts — and how that format drove thousands of comments, not just impressions.
It also shows that on LinkedIn, the most effective posts aren’t the polished ones — they’re the ones that sound like they came from a real person.
Comments work because they invite conversation. They build presence through consistency. And they give people a reason to remember your name.
You want your brand and company be known for showing up consistently with purpose.
This is one of the simplest and strongest ways I know to build trust online. It works whether your audience is 5, 50, or 5,000,000. And it requires zero spend — just time, discipline, consistency, and a willingness to engage with intention.
